GOLDSMITH BENEDICT, MARILYNN: On Saturday, April 23, 2016; Beloved wife of John Benedict. Step-mother of Aaron (Malka) Benedict and Sara (Shalom) Garfinkel. Step-grandmother of Rivky, Tehilla, Rachel, Ariella, Adina, Miriam, Rena and Aryeh. Marilynn was a proud graduate of the High School of Music and Art in New York City. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Hunter College and her first PhD from Brown University in Biology which brought her to Pittsburgh to join the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. She was one of those instrumental in creating the Women Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh. She began working as a birth control counselor at the Pittsburgh Free Clinic where her career then shifted to counseling and psychology. She then pursued a graduate degree in Counseling Education ultimately receiving her licensure and second PhD in Psychology. She was very proud of her affiliation with Planned Parenthood of Pittsburgh. She was particularly interested in the psychology of Carl Jung, ultimately becoming the head of the Pittsburgh Jung Society. Marilynn was very passionate about art and specifically wearable art that she would create. Services and Interment PRIVATE. To the loved ones and friends of Marilynn go my sincere condolences on her passing. It was an honor to have shared reflections and comments on social media with her.
