March 2, 2017

EISNER, RUTH  ANN (ISAACS): Age 86, died peacefully on March 2, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Robert Eisner, and is survived by her daughters: Marjie (Jeff) Mckee, Judy (Sandy) Kivowitz, and Amy (Jim) Ireland; seven grandchildren: Lena (Garrett) Krutilla, Mollie (Brett) Wilson, Rose Marcus, Lauren and Alana Kivowitz, and Asher and Ben Ireland; and two great-grandsons, Alexander Wilson and Andrew Krutilla. A Pittsburgh native and long-time Squirrel Hill resident, Ruth Ann was born in 1931, the only child of the late Dr. Asher and Flora Isaacs.  After earning her degree in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh, she became a long-time, dedicated kindergarten teacher who mentored and supported generations of new teachers and remained beloved by her former students throughout their own adult lives.  Also a talented musician, Ruth Ann played cello as a lifetime member of the Pittsburgh Savoyards Orchestra, and together she and Robert created a home that was always full of music. As a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, she waved her Terrible Towel until the very end. Her memory will be treasured by her family, and she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and friendship by all who knew her. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Hebrew Free Loan Association, the Pittsburgh Savoyards, or the charity of your choice. Dear Judy, Sandy, Lauren and Alana - Over the years you've shared stories about your Mom/Mom-In-Law/Grandma and if I'm remembering right she was both loving and lovely and will, I'm sure, be severely missed. I also know that the life she has been living for a while now has been difficult requiring Judy to go back and forth from home to Pittsburgh many times. Perhaps there is some relief in knowing that she is past the pain and unhappiness of that reality. I know her memory will be a blessing to you all. Wishing you wonderful memories and peace. Love - Ora

My condolences. Mrs. Eisner was my Kindergarten teacher. When I was in a body cast that year, she would visit me at home and give me worksheets to color. A very dedicated teacher who will be missed.
