WIDOM, JEANNETTE LAURA (WEINTHAL): On Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in Sarasota, FL at age 100. Beloved wife of the late Allan Widom. Devoted sister of the late Ruth Lieber and Stanley Weinthal. Wonderful aunt to James (Margie) Lieber and Paul (Susan) Lieber, all of Pittsburgh,   Thomas (Sheila) Lieber of Oyster Bay, NY, Richard (Dynell) Weinthal of San Diego, CA and Donald (Becky) Weinthal of Huntington Beach, CA and engaged and supportive great-aunt to their children. Supremely positive, Jeannette was adored by all who knew her and was in turn a dear friend to many in Pittsburgh, Sarasota, and elsewhere. An active member of her community, she was dedicated to protecting the natural world and its animals. Concerned about the effects of pollution, Jeannette was a charter, longtime member of GASP, Pittsburgh's Group Against Smog and Pollution and, in addition to many other such charitable pursuits, was an involved member of Save Our Bays in Sarasota. She was also a phenomenal baker, for many years the baking champion at the Allegheny County Fair, and author of numerous articles and three books on baking (the proceeds of which she donated to GASP). Until recently, Jeannette was an avid swimmer and a pianist who played by ear, to the delight of those who heard her. Services at Rodef Shalom Temple, 4905 Fifth Avenue (at Morewood) on Sunday June 1, 2014 at 2 PM . Visitation at Temple one hour prior to services, (1 - 2 PM).   Interment West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation.
