GROSS, RUTH SCHWARTZ: On Friday, January 16, 2015; Beloved wife of the late Dr. Irwin Gross. Honored mother of Miriam and Stanley Winikoff, Benjamin and Diane Gross and Ellen Gross and Alan Weiskopf. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Anne Schwartz. Sister of the late Ernest Schwartz, Hazel Weinberger, Sydney, Theodore, Eleanor, and twin brother, Howard Schwartz. Grandmother of Allison Winikoff Ziefert, Cara and Jeremy Hirsch, Rachel Gross Winkelman and Jonathan Winkelman, Hanna and Adam Moorhead, Ava Weiskopf, Zachary Gross and Amelia Gross. Great-grandmother of William, Nathaniel, and Sylvie Ziefert, Anna and Samuel Hirsch, Elliott and Theodore Winkelman. Also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mrs. Gross was raised in Brownsville, PA by Hungarian Jewish parents. With the help of her family she graduated from Montefiore Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. It was there she met and married her beloved Irvy. Together they raised their children with great devotion. Their extended family was central to their lives. When her children were older, Ruth returned to work as a registered nurse. Ruth enjoyed Scrabble, Bridge, crossword puzzles, and sharing her wisdom with four generations. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Sunday at 1 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services, (12 Noon - 1 PM). Interment Homestead Hebrew Cemetery.
