Rose Carfagna Au has been in funeral service for over 45 years. She has been associated with Ralph Schugar Chapel in Shadyside since May 2001. Prior to that, she worked for Burton L. Hirsch Funeral Home in Squirrel Hill for 22 years, beginning with her internship in 1979 and ending her tenure as a Location Manager.

Rose is a 1978 graduate of Penn State University with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and a 1979 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

In 1994, she became the first female president of the Allegheny County Funeral Directors Association (ACFDA) in 100 years. She has served on the Board consistently in different capacities since that time. In 2020, Rose was named an Honorary Life Member of the ACFDA.

In 1999, Rose became the first female Board of Governors member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association serving as a District Governor of Allegheny County until 2003. She is also a Certified Funeral Service Celebrant.

She and her husband, Frank, reside in Ross Township.
