Ronald Barry Geistman

October 30, 2026

Ronald "Bayne" Geistman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on October 30, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on the Fourth of July, Bayne was a firecracker from the start. Strong-willed and unmistakably himself, he leaves behind a devoted family and friends who simply called him a legend.

He became "Bayne" in high school, inheriting the nickname from a cool older student after that student graduated. The name stuck for a lifetime.

A New Yorker at heart, Bayne never lost his thick accent or his candor, even after making Pittsburgh his home. He had opinions he wasn't shy about sharing. He might have been the first to leave a party, but while he was there, he was the one everyone looked to.

An accident in 1982 left him with lasting physical challenges. He faced the pain and hardships that followed with a resolve that earned him a reputation for having nine lives. Beneath that tough exterior was a sensitive heart, especially when it came to those closest to him.

Bayne met his wife, Linda, on Fire Island. Married for 40 years, they were yin and yang-two distinct personalities bound by all they had shared. Together, they raised twin daughters, Alexa and Morgan-his "Boo Boo" and "Dinky"-giving them a childhood rich in opportunity, encouragement, and laughter.

For his 50th birthday, Linda surprised him by renting a Morgan British sports car in London. He later bought one of his own. That cherished car-which his family might argue was the love of his life-became a fixture of car shows in Schenley Park and rides he delighted in giving his daughters' friends. He loved showing it off.

In a framed ode to the Morgan, Bayne described his affection for things that were "traditional, quirky, rugged with more than a hint of beauty." He admired its craftsmanship, its character, and its refusal to bend to every passing fad. It suited him.

Some of the family's happiest days unfolded somewhere warm: summers on Long Beach Island with friends and spring break trips to Florida's west coast, Mexico, and Belize. Sunshine and beaches were always his idea of a good vacation.

His daughters remember tickle fights, playing school in their parents' bed, bike lessons on Kiawah Island, and laughing together at movies. He encouraged them to feel beautiful and confident, embraced their wit and goofiness, and took immense pride in the women they became.

Music was another lifelong passion. Bayne loved seeing his favorite bands live, until he declared himself retired from "the concert thing." His friends marked his last show, YES, with a plaque. His concertgoing days had ended, but the soundtrack continued.

His humor was just as enduring. As he put it: "One day you're young & fun. The next you're turning down the car stereo to see better."

In his final hours, Linda, Alexa, and Morgan played his favorite band, The Kinks, for him-a familiar comfort shared together until the end.

Bayne was a treasured grandfather to Harper and Mila and an idol to his brothers, Freddie and Bobby. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his twin daughters, Alexa and Morgan; his son-in-law, Geoffrey Abraham; his granddaughters, Harper and Mila; and his brothers, Freddie and Bobby.

"Geist" means spirit in German. Bayne's spirit lives on in his family's humor, determination, music, and the stories they will keep telling. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
