SUMMARY:Dr. Howard Ian Diamond Funeral Service
DESCRIPTION:DR. HOWARD IAN DIAMOND: Beloved son of the late Isabel and Ben Diamond\, passed away peacefully in Pittsburgh\, PA. His loving sister Lois Bron (the late Dr. Klaus Bron)\, his devoted niece Kerry Bron (Robert Levin)\, and his adoring nephew William Bron were by his side. \nHoward\, who lived a life defined by dedication\, curiosity\, and an enduring interest in people\, graduated first in his class from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago\, IL. After completing his residency in foot and ankle surgery at the Cleveland Foot Clinic\, he eagerly returned home to Pittsburgh to open his practice on Mount Washington. His patients cherished his kindness\, his skill\, his friendship\, and the unique gift of his house calls. At UPMC Southside and Saint Francis Central hospitals Howard was granted full foot and ankle surgical privileges and was proud to be regarded as a doctor’s doctor\, caring for many members of the medical and surgical community and their families. Later in his career he was invited to participate in a balance medicine fellowship focused on dizziness and gait disorders. Many of his patients who had difficulty walking benefited from his expertise in this field. For more than fifty years he cared for generations of families with a devotion that made him not only a respected physician but also a beloved presence in the community. He will be deeply missed by his patients\, colleagues\, and friends on Mount Washington and beyond. \nThroughout his life Howard was immersed in the joy of music. He studied violin from childhood through high school and served as concertmaster of both his high school orchestra and the Pittsburgh All-City Orchestra. His interests also included dancing\, reading\, movies\, Broadway shows\, and traveling throughout Europe\, the Caribbean islands\, and the United States. Despite his many travels\, he always said that his favorite hotel was the Traymore in Atlantic City and his favorite city was Pittsburgh. \nHoward was a devoted Pittsburgh Pirates fan\, especially of the teams of the 1950s. He treasured sitting in box seats with his father along the third-base line at Forbes Field for every home game. After having the privilege of witnessing Bill Mazeroski’s legendary home run in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series\, he celebrated the unforgettable victory with his father\, sister\, and the team at the Pirates’ post-game party at the Webster Hall Hotel. \nHoward’s life was filled with love\, laughter\, fun\, creative ideas and lifelong learning. He gave generously of himself to his family\, his friends\, his patients\, and his community and leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to ripple outward for years to come. He had heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care of Linda\, Bonnie\, Rick\, Aja\, Earl\, Antoine\, and Andrea. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him. \nDonations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral services were Private. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel\, Inc. www.schugar.com
