Michael J. Levenson
October 15, 2020

MICHAEL J. LEVENSON: On Thursday, October 15, age 59 years, passed away peacefully at his home. Michael was loved for his larger-than-life presence and personality as well as his kindheartedness and caring. He lived life according to his own terms, working many years as an engineer modifying, certifying and repairing Commercial and Military aircraft. Michael loved sports cars, travelling the world, enjoying good food and was a wine connoisseur. A big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Michael would frequently go to the arena just before puck drop to check on last-second ticket availability. Son of the late Abe and Ann Levenson, he is survived by his fiancé, Sisa Beckwith, half-sister Rita Tauberg with whom he shared the same father. He also had a very close and special bond with his nephew David Tauberg (Anne Hawkins), niece Faith Siskind (Steven), and great-nephews Samuel and Adam Siskind. Michael will be dearly missed by many close friends from around the country and the world. A special thanks to all his wonderful, loving home caregivers and the kind, passionate staff at UPMC homecare and hospice. Donations to honor Michael's memory may be made to Just Harvest at justharvest.org, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org or Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank at pittsburghfoodbank.org. There will be a private ceremony. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., family owned and operated. www.schugar.com

Mike was my boyfriend for several years, we spent a lot of time travelling through the USA and The Netherlands together. I met him during my internship at the Phoenix Art Museum. We have always stayed friends and I am very happy Mike loved coming back to our friends in Europe. Each time he came to Amsterdam for the last ten years we went for applepie or beer and watched a documentary at the film festival. He always had lots of interesting stories to share. I will miss his visits and his roaring laugh. Rest in peace Mike. You will be missed. My condolences to Mike's family.

From Berlin, Germany I am sending my sincerest condolences to Rita, David, Faith, Sisa and all Family and Friends of Mike from around the world. Mike and I met 20 years ago at Katz Graduate School of Business. We quickly became friends and stayed friends ever since. I deeply miss his crisp analytical mind, his big heart and his wonderful sense of humor. And I miss my friend Mike with whom I shared my passion for classic cars. So many things we never talked about. So many car rallies I would have liked to go on with you. And that roadtrip across Europe that we planned would have been a blast! Your life was just too short. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I worked with Mike about 11 years ago while he was helping us get our airplane production started at Quest Aircraft Company. His leadership in structural repairs helped train many young engineers and set us up for success as we learned how to build airplanes efficiently. My condolences to Mike's family... I don't have to tell you he was quite a guy.

I got to meet Mike a few years ago while he was working in Seattle. Being from Pittsburgh myself, I immediately liked Mike. A big guy with a huge personality. Wicked funny and a great character. After he moved backed to Pitt from Seattle I was looking forward to reconnecting someday. I am very saddened I never got that chance. Rest in peace Mike.

My sincerest condolences to Sisa Beckwith and her family. Also, to Rita Tauberg and her family. I met Michael more than 25 years ago, but had not seen him in as many years. I have been aware of his travels and adventures through the years. His stature defined him with his caring, but gentleness, and his big heart , to make his friends and family happy. He will be missed, but not forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. Sincerely, Maria R. Soderberg

Deepest sympathy, respect, and thankfulness for Michael, his brilliant, wonderful, thoughtful, and far too short life. He was, and is, and will continue to be a great inspiration for many many many friends who have had the blessing to know, learn from, and be inspired by him. He has done an enormous amount of good work for this nation and the world (including airlines KLM, etc). He was a champion, adventurous, bold, steadfast, and heroic and will continue to be so in our hearts. Always completely engaging, fascinating, wise, and deeply thoughtful. With great sympathy and sorrow in the loss of a truly great, brilliant, wonderful, and beautiful man. Paul and Maggie Schulz, Baltimore, Maryland
