Nan and family...just heard about Mel's death. My deepest sympathy and condolences. I had no idea that he was battling cancer. Mel always had a smile on his face whenever we saw each other (probably because he was anticipating a dirty joke). If this guy ever had a bad day you never knew it...because he just kept on truckin'. Rest in peace old friend and fraternity brother. I'll always remember your smile and laughter.

My deepest sympathies Nan.

To the Cohen Family, Melvin will always be in our hearts. He was kind, loving, caring, generous, a good husband ,father, friend, smart, funny and talented. We will remember him fondly and miss him greatly. He was always up for an adventure. When we set up our black Christmas tree it will remind us of Melvin. He made us famous or infamous for our unique and cutting edge Christmas decorations. From the first rope chasing lights to our “Miami Vice” neon light sticks it was all Melvin influenced. Our last project together is the outdoor turntable which rotates a chainsaw carved sculpture in our garden. We told Melvin what we wanted and he made it happen without question. Next year at the annual “Guys Dinner” we will include a chair at the table in Melvin’s honor and raise a glass to our friend. Salute! PEACE! The Chris and Nancy Spina Family

I knew Mel for over 50 years. He was a mensch. He was genuine. He was one of the nicest of guys, and who could forget that unmistakable laugh. I know it is small comfort, but my sincerest and deepest sympathies go to Nan, Alyssa and Abbe. Take comfort in knowing that everyone who knew Mel remembers him fondly.
