ROOK, ELFI: On Wednesday, December 14, 2016; Beloved wife of the late Sy Rook. Cherished mother of Jill (Richard Koepsel) Rook and the late Lance W. Rook. Mother in law of Myra Schechtman. Devoted and loving grandmother of Emily (Abe DeBenedetti) Rook-Koepsel, Megan (Austin) Parker and Andrew ( Debbie) Schechtman-Rook. Unbelievably proud and loving Great-Great Elfi to Robert and Simon DeBenedetti, Eugenie and Shai Parker and Dani Schechtman-Rook. Elfi was born in 1925 in Vienna, Austria. In March of 1939, months after Kristallnacht, she and her family were able to emigrate to the United States. Through her life's achievements as a social worker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, political activist, bridge player and "organizer", she has inspired and encouraged all of us. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services, (10 - 11 AM). Interment Homewood Cemetery.
