WEDNER, SANFORD:  On Wednesday, March 8, 2017; age 77 after a courageous battle over 20 years with many illnesses, Sanford "Sandy" Wedner, of Pittsburgh, PA. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yetta Wedner and his brother, Norman (Flora). Beloved father of Karen Sleszynski (Ray, M.D.) and grandchildren, Dylan, Sydney and Jagger Slesynski of Tierra Verde, FL, beloved brother of Irwin B. Wedner (Gail) and uncle of Jimmy, Bonnie, Lori, Michael, Rosalyn and Joe, great uncle of Zach and many other great nieces and nephews. Sandy worked in the family produce business in the Strip District, Joseph Wedner & Sons, built a health club and dabbled in the stock market. He was a great dancer, loved his Cadillac car, jogging and Mineo's pizza. Sandy received wonderful care from Amedisys Hospice and especially hospice nurses Amy and Donna, and especially caregivers Kathye Sears and Rick Cokley and all the kind caregivers who worked with them, Loretta, Ericka, Kristina, Sheree, Pat, Beverly, Alaina, Keishonna, Capreca, Rickale, and Charlene, and special help from his Chatham Center guys where he lived, Herman, Al, Don and Don and Cornell and his good friend and broker at Wells Fargo, Steve Gagne. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services (12 - 1 PM). Interment Poale Zedeck Cemetery, Sheraden. Sandy had the heart of a warrior and the spirit of an entrepreneur. He was a fighter with a unique sense of humor... sometimes misunderstood but always listen to. He is at rest now and our thoughts are with his family.
