EVELYN HAUSMAN MORRIS: Was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1925. Her next 97 years were filled with spending time with family, playing games with anyone who would join in, volunteering for various organizations, and being an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. In addition to caring for her husband and three children, she had a fulfilling career as an executive secretary for a local steel company and a bookkeeper for the family’s pharmacies. After retirement, Evey enjoyed many years in the Fort Lauderdale sunshine before eventually relocating to Atlanta for 7 years. Her infectious smile was always on display, especially when handing out her famous baked goods like Toll House cookies, chocolate-dipped shortbreads, mandel bread, and chocolate candies. All that were lucky to know and love her will remember her kind and generous spirit.

She was the loving wife for 61 years of the late Jack Morris; daughter of the late Sophie and David Hausman; cherished mother of Renee (Mick) Migdall, Howard Morris and Carolyn (Michael) Felzer; proud grandmother of Brooke (Jay) Lazarski, Jamie Felzer, Carly (Bennett) Ginburg and David Felzer; ecstatic great-grandmother of Evan Lazarski and Bella Ginburg; beloved sister of the late Reva (Hank) Rolnick, Hersh (Korene) Hausman and Jackie (Francie) Hausman; dedicated sister-in-law of the late Itzy (Shirley) Morris, late Moish (Pauline) Morris, Betty, and the late Noi Morris, Margie, and the late Mott Morris; doting aunt, cousin, adopted (grand) mother and friend to all that she met.

Evey passed away surrounded by family and love on August 8, 2022. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at Beth Abraham Cemetery on Friday, August 12 at 10 AM. Contributions in her honor can be made to Parkway Jewish Center at 300 Princeton Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, Temple Kol Emeth at https://www.kolemeth.net/payment.php, or the charity of your choice.

Condolences

Send Condolence

Renee, Howie, and Carolyn, I have such wonderful memories of Aunt Evey. She truly was a second mother to me. Whether it was our families spending so many holidays together or just hanging out in the kitchen in Eastmont waiting for those special toll house cookies to come out of the oven. Also, pairing an amazing milkshake with it! I’m sending love and thoughts your way, along with my condolences. May your mom RIP.

Renee, Howie, Carolyn and family- We are sending you our sincerest condolences for the passing of Evey. We did get to see her when she was in Ft Lauderdale. There are so many wonderful feelings for the "aunts" and "uncles" of Eastmont that "raised" all of us. I know they are back together in their own community in heaven. Hopefully, you have a lot of comfort from all of the wonderful memories. She was a wonderful baker. Lauire and Keith Keister and Michael Price

I had great privilege knowing Evey for many many years. Being her son HOWIE’s best friend and business partner for close to 50 years give me a ringside seat just kind generous and fun loving woman. She was like a second mom to me and a second grandmom my daughter Eva. Family was so important to her and I and my family were so grateful to be part of hers. Is and May she be a blessed memory to all that knew her.

Eastmont Pharmacy was the place to go when I was a kid for a Coke, a lemon Blennd, an ice cream cone, a comic book, or just to gather. When I was in college I finally recognized how important this place was and always had been in my life. I often stopped on my way home from Duquesne U to chat with Jack. The Morris family worked very hard to make Eastmont Pharmacy what it was. To Jack and Evelyn's kids know that your parents efforts were much appreciated and may Evelyn's memory be for a blessing.
