MORTON LEVINE: On Sunday, August 7, 2022. Beloved husband of Betty Krasnopoler Levine. Beloved father of Barbara (Howard) Weiner and Andrea (Peter) Rockland. Brother of the late Helen A. Levine. Grandfather of Hannah (Avi) Jerushalmy, Noah and Leo Weiner, Sophia and Tia Rockland. Mort Levine was born in Pittsburgh on January 11, 1929 to Minnie and Abe Levine. He and his older sister Helen were raised in the small town of Ingram, PA, where his parents owned a grocery store, and later moved to Imperial, before meeting his wife of 57 years, Betty Krasnopoler Levine, and settling in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. He attended Pennsylvania State University where he majored in Biology, then served in the US Army from 1952-54. He was employed by the University of Pittsburgh for over 40 years, where he was Lab Director for Dr. Bernard Fisher, a prominent Professor of Surgery, leading his cancer research program. Mort was an active member of Rodef Shalom Temple for many years and gave generously to a wide range of charitable causes. He was an enthusiastic amateur photographer, gardener, an avid Bridge player and a passionate lifelong Steelers fan. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors at Weinberg Terrace. Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 10 AM at Homewood Cemetery. Dear Aunt Betty and the Levine Family, My sincerest condolences to all of you at this time. Uncle Mort was quiet, genuine and very kind and always a wonderful uncle to me. I loved all of our times together in both Florida and Pittsburgh and Uncle Mort will truly will be missed. Wishing you comfort and sending my love during this difficult time. Love Beth
