SANFORD P. "SANDY" GROSS: On Tuesday, August 30. Beloved father of Keshira haLev/Sarah (Tim) Fife and Rachel H. Gross. Sandy is survived by 3 former wives including Susan K. Gross, mother of Keshira and Rachel. Eldest brother of Marshall (Lorna), Howard (Marcy) and A. Jay Gross. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and beloved friends. Born on September 1, 1935, Sandy lived much of his life in Pittsburgh and was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, the University of Pittsburgh, and Duquesne Law School. Sandy was a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association for 50 years, and in his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and a long-time collector of antiques, glassware and art. He was happiest in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, or anywhere else, as long as his adoring children were nearby. Sandy and his family owe a debt of gratitude to the staff at AHAVA and Sivitz Hospice for their exquisite care and support, and his children will forever be grateful for the way they tended to him with such compassion and good humor. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Sunday at 1 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services (12 Noon - 1 PM). Interment Torath Chaim Cemetery. I used to sit with Sandy at Friday night services at Temple Sinai. I looked forward to seeing him every Friday it was one of the highlights of my work week. Sandy donated many pieces of his art work to Temple Sinai, but always did it anonymously since he wasn't interested in the recognition. I'm sorry I will be unable to attend the funeral. Please accept my condolences.

Dearest Sarah, Rachel and Tim: I am so sorry to hear that Sandy passed away. As you know, he has been a very special and dear friend to me (and Paul) for many years. I always have appreciated your Father's wisdom, advice, and sense of humor. No matter what he said (or how he phrased it), Sandy was always the real Sandy. I have missed him terribly for the last couple of years and will always miss having him to talk with. I know that these past couple of years have been very difficult for you. Please remember the good times and the wonderful person that your Father was to so many. May his memory always be a blessing. With love and sympathy, Diz and Dr. Paul
