BARBARA LANDAY: Died on July 23, 2023 in Aventura, FL. She was born in 1937 to Henry and Myrna Wolk and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She led a life centered on the importance of family. While opting to be a stay at home mother after the birth of her daughters, she was a feminist at heart and instilled in her daughters the importance of education and financial independence. Once she finished raising her daughters, she became a successful owner (creative mind and buyer) of a home and gift boutique, The Registry, a mainstay for brides in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

While many commented on her outer beauty, it's her inner beauty and strength that we'll remember and cherish.

She lived for and adored her family. She never missed the opportunity to partake in a life event be it a birth of a grandchild, graduation ceremony, or piano recital. She loved playing board games and cards with her grandchildren and played to win! She will forever be hailed as the Tushie monster.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 66 years Melvin Landay, daughter's, Leslie (Dennis) and Kimberly (Abraham), grandchildren, Erin (Todd), Benjamin (Madelyn), Michael (Rachel), Jonathan (Tathienne) and Sophie, great-grandchildren Olivia, Tobias, Asher, Saul and Emma, brothers, Sheldon, Dennis, Brent and Brad. She was predeceased by grandson Andrew.

May the memory of Barbara Landay be a blessing.

Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 2 PM at Homewood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., family owned and operated. www.schugar.com

We are so sad to lose our beautiful, charming wonderful cousin, Barbara. She was lovely- intelligent , warm and friendly, always welcoming whether it was in her home or her charming shop. I’m glad she had time with her family in Florida. We have always thought the world of Mel, Leslie and Kimberly- a beautiful family! It’s a great loss for all of us!

We have wonderful memories of both Barbara and Mel going back to our honeymoon apartment where our front doors almost touched, and when Leslie was a baby. Barbara was beautiful and elegant inside and out. Our most sincere condolences go out to Mel and to her family, and our deepest sympathy on your great loss.
