BEVERLY SELIG MERMELSTEIN: Beverly Selig Mermelstein, 93, of Pittsburgh, passed away on December 21, 2023.

 

Bev was born on January 11, 1930, to the late Ann and Max Selig in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) where she received a degree in Social Work.

 

Bev was the loving wife of the late Howard Mermelstein, brother of the late Allan (Lillian) Selig and sister-in-law of the late Elinore Mermelstein. She was the wonderful mother of Margie (Paul) Dubner, Bob (Merle) Mermelstein and Jan (Don) Shaw. She is also survived by seven grandchildren (Seth (Christina) Dubner, Mimi (Mike) Oliff, Brandon Mermelstein, Andrew Shaw, Hollis Mermelstein, Matthew Shaw and Bryn Mermelstein), three great grandchildren (Wells Dubner, Arie Oliff and Josie Oliff). Also survived by nieces/nephews (Randy Selig, Julie Bowman, Sara Selig) and many dear friends.

 

Services and Interment Private. Friends will be received on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Rodef Shalom Congregation, 4905 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. The family requests that visitors wear masks. Contributions can be made in Beverly's name to Jewish Family and Community Services, 5743 Bartlett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known Bev Mermelstein. She was the matriarch of a wonderful, accomplished, and respected family, someone who was unfailingly kind, warm, and gracious. She did a great deal for the community and she left the world a better place. She shall be missed by so many. My sincere condolences to my former classmate Bob, to Margie, and to Jan.
