DR. LARRY A. DOBKIN: On Monday, August 18, 2025; Beloved husband of Sharon Weiss Dobkin of Pittsburgh (formerly of Beachwood, OH); Very loving and proud father of Rachel (Ben Eisenstein) Dobkin of Brookline, MA; brother of Joseph Dobkin of Miami, FL. Also survived by several cherished cousins and dear friends. A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Larry majored in chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University. After graduating from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Larry practiced internal medicine and geriatrics, taking calls from home, making house calls and providing an unsurpassed level of care and expertise to all he served. Humble, unassuming and quiet, Larry had a wealth of fascinating stories which he remembered with extraordinary detail. A math genius, Larry loved baseball and was an amateur baseball statistician. He was also legendary for being able to balance his checkbook in his head to perfection. Larry loved teaching and mentoring; he loved dogs, especially his beloved Lucy, music and classic cars. He was kind, caring, generous, and down to earth. There was no one like him, and he will be terribly missed by his loving family, devoted friends and patients. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11 AM.  Visitation one hour prior to services (10 AM - 11 AM). Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery. As with the cars, music, & values he espoused, My Cousin Larry was a Classic individual. He showed empathy, kindness, & high intelligence at a very young age, reading to me at about age 5 or 6. With all of his well-earned success, he was very modest, & never changed by it. I can remember him schlepping a footrest across the room for his Paternal Grandfather, and fasting for his Mother for her to resume good health at age 12. Upon moving back to Pgh. in '91, unbeknownst to me, he signed me up for the Network Singles Group. When I needed a back surgeon in '93, Eunice & Larry referred me to Dr. Jon Phillips, whose skill allowed me to resume my quality of life. Larry has always been helpful to all family members, most recently to Edye for daughter Nava Rachel. Once when dining with Larry at Panera's, a father came up to Larry and praised him for caring so well for his son. Like his father, Robert, Larry was a straight shooter, of the highest moral character. In our youth, We both worked whatever part time jobs necessary to obtain things without having our parents pay for them. As with life, Larry fought the good fight over Parkinsons the last approximately 9 years. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, cousin, friend, and Physician to all who were fortunate enough to have known this true Mensch of a human being. Larry, may you be in the presence of Hashem, your Parents, my Mother, Nanny, & whomever you have missed. It was a Mitzvah to have you with us on this earth!

Larry was a wonderful doctor. Nurses loved him, and my mother adored him. His last years were very challenging, but he met them with courage. I am sure he will have his stethoscope and ready to go to work as he joins his mother, father, and aunt.

Dear Sharon and Rachel and Ben, My deepest sympathy on your loss. Larry was a kind, generous and thoughtful man. And the sort of cousin that only the fortunate have. Our time together as kids was long ago. However, we still had long phone conversations though far from one another. I will miss him, too. Cousin Jack

Larry had such a unique blend of humor and wisdom that always lit up a room. Never one to complain, he approached life's up and downs with grace and an admirable attitude. He brought so much light into our family's lives when he met Sharon and it was beautiful to see them become proud parents of Rachel. I'll cherish the many good times with Larry and will miss our conversations. May his memory forever be a blessing.
