HANNA HUTTNER EDELSTEIN: Born August 14, 1931, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Daughter to the late Sally Huttner and Bernard Huttner, Wife to the late David Edelstein and sister to the late Leo and Arnold Huttner. Survived by her children Mark Edelstein (Teri Edelstein) Steven Edelstein (Stacey Edelstein) and her grandchildren Errin Tamari (Doron Tamari), Sydney Edelstein (Ben Pollak), Jordan Edelstein (Gena Edelstein), and Alex Edelstein (Carly Edelstein), and her two great grandchildren Asher Tamari and Liv Edelstein.

Hanna Edelstein began her life in Berlin, Germany and emigrated to Ellis Island on the SS Deutschland, the last vessel from Hamburg, mid-August 1939.

Hanna moved to Pittsburgh, and began her school years, age 7, first at Roosevelt Elementary School (lower Murray Avenue/now a Giant Eagle Grocery Store) and finished at Taylor Allderdice High School. She graduated February 1, 1950.

On June 29, 1952 Hanna married David Edelstein, and for 62 years, and they had a terrific relationship.

Hanna was a phenomenal human being. A very kind, patient, gentle person who was also an amazing cook. She looked at everyone for their goodness and her life's advice was to "Be kind to others"... which is how she lived her 94 years of life.

Thank you Mark for contacting me. I am so sorry to hear the news, u have no idea. Your Mother has meant so much to me, in words I can't describe. I will never forget her, she was so important to me. Tears are flowing. Mark, she absolutely was the "loveliest lady," as u told me once. She always talked about how much she loved you, Mark and Steve. As I mentioned, I thought of her every day and said prayers for her every night for a long, long time. I am crying as if she was my own Mother. SIncerely, Nancy Wintner

She was loved like immediate family; didn't matter that she was a mother-in-law to my sister-in-law. If there's a female equivalent to a "mench," that was Hannah. We were blessed to know her over 40 years. Kind, smiling ... someone you wanted to be around. Her memory is truly a blessing. Steven and Mark: thank you for sharing her with us.
