HOWARD KUBITZ: On Monday, January 12, 2026. Beloved husband of 62 years of Ethel Kubitz. Loving father of Jenifer Ann Fisch (Stephen) and Shari Dana Kubitz. Son of the late Rose and Paul Kubitz. Brother of the late Donald Jay Kubitz (Rosalee Szabo). Uncle of Laura Szabo-Kubitz, Philip Borcover, and Lee Mark, and beloved grand-niece Sloane. Howard grew up in Squirrel Hill, was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School and Robert Morris College. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Howard was a member and past president of New Light Congregation and volunteered with the Jewish War Veterans. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Steelers and the Pirates. One of his favorite memories of his youth was meeting Babe Ruth when they were both on their way to Forbes Field. Howard was a life-long dog lover; he loved when his neighbors brought Charlie and Bentley to visit. He also looked forward to visits from friends and neighbors and sharing stories about his life. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside, on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 1:30 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services (12:30 - 1:30 PM). Howard "Howie" as I joked was an amazing man I had the privilege of knowing for 53 years. I have such fond memories growing up with him in my life, from watching him pour over piles of paperwork, playing with Licorice, special tuna melt lunches Ethel made with a Pirate game on in the background, running down the stairs from watching Grease for the 100th time with his girls and even the lingering smell of a pipe he just smoked. He always took time to talk with my kids creating a special bond with Rick and that always stood out to me in such a loving way. I want to thank Jennifer and Shari for sharing their dad with me and allowing me to see how wonderful he was. I have no words that can express the loss we all feel with you and how truly saddened we are.
