RUTH ERLICH: An entrepreneur who was often described as ahead of her time, passed away March 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of independence, curiosity, and intellect.

Ruth began her entrepreneurial journey in the 1970s, starting her own business during a period when few women were doing so. Her determination, creativity, and willingness to forge her own path defined much of her life and inspired those who knew her.

Outside of her work, Ruth embraced life with enthusiasm. She had a deep love of food and was always eager to try new flavors and share meals and recipes with family and friends. She also enjoyed cars, had an affection for animals, and took a keen interest in media, pop culture, and the changing world around her. Those close to her often remarked on her forward-thinking perspective and how naturally she seemed to stay ahead of the times.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her son, Brad Jones; her daughters, Barbara Erlich and Michelle Light; and her two granddaughters, Zoe and Valerie Light. Her family remembers her as a strong, curious, and loving presence whose influence will continue to be felt for generations.

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: Family and friends may meet at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10 AM and then proceed to Shaare Torah Cemetery for 11 AM Graveside Services. www.schugar.com

To all family members of Ruth. Please accept our condolences. We were fortunate to be in her company on a couple of occasions and found her to be quite a woman. The description of her being independent, curious, and possessing a high intellect was accurate. May she rest in peace.
