Randi Ellen (Specter) Markovitz, age 69, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on May 1, 1957, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Randi was the beloved daughter of Benjamin and Shirley Specter. She graduated from Mercyhurst Preparatory School before attending the University of Pittsburgh, where she majored in social work and met her eventual husband, Jeffrey Markovitz. Together during their nearly 45 wonderful years of marriage, they built a loving family that was the center of her life. She was a cherished mother to Bryan (Alina) Markovitz, Craig (Becky) Markovitz, and Elyse (Dan) Wiedemann, and most recently a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Brayden, Brody, Carter, Aaron, Mila, Sadie, Natalie, and Garrett.

For 25 years, Randi and Jeff owned and operated a family run pharmacy, proudly serving the Mon Valley community and building lasting relationships with countless customers and employees. Her dedication, compassion, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Randi had a passion for travel. She explored nearly every corner of the United States, visiting 49 of the 50 states, and traveled extensively internationally. Randi’s most recent favorite destination was to Woodloch Pines, a family resort in the Poconos, which had quickly become her favorite week of the year to spend with her whole family.

Randi cherished the friendships she cultivated throughout her life and looked forward to her weekly Tuesday card games with friends. She also enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, getting lost in a good book, and keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and other word games. No matter what she was doing, she approached life with a positive spirit, guided by her favorite motto: "make every day a good day."

More than anything, Randi's greatest pride and purpose came from her family. She was a devoted mother who offered unwavering love, endless encouragement, and steadfast support through every stage of her childrens’ lives. Somehow, she always seemed to know exactly what was going on—proving time and again that she truly had eyes in the back of her head.

This love of family was further strengthened with her role as Grandma. She rarely missed a sporting event, recital, school function, or special milestone. She delighted in hosting family dinners and holiday celebrations, planning special outings with her grandchildren, and stopping by for a visit just because. Her home was a place where family gathered, laughter was abundant, and everyone knew they were deeply loved. The memories she created with her children and grandchildren will remain a lasting gift to those who were fortunate enough to call her Mom and Grandma.
