Dr. Robert E. Fidoten: Age 98, Passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026; Beloved husband for 73 years of the late Marsha A. Fidoten; loving father of Doug (Beth) Fidoten and Eric (Sharyl) Fidoten; brother of the late Sylvia Pines; brother-in-law of Irwin Abrams; Devoted grandfather of Aaron, Hannah, Andy (Miche), Jacob, and Dani. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Robert was born in New York, New York. He earned his Bachelors degree from Pratt Institute and his Masters and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. He served as the Director of Management Information Systems at PPG Industries. He was also a beloved professor of communications at Slippery Rock University where he helped launch many students' careers. He was a world traveler, a cultural connoisseur, and an accomplished business leader who was listed in, 'Who's Who in America.' Robert was active in philanthropy, especially supporting local arts and social justice causes. He served on committees of many arts organizations including the Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, Carnegie Museum, and the National Society of Arts and Letters. Bob was a dynamic intellect who lived life to the fullest, a Pittsburgh sports fan and ice cream lover, who will be missed greatly. Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Greenwood Cemetery.
