Arnheim, and Louise A. Arnheim; proud grandfather of Alina K. Arnheim.Devoted brother of the late Bernice Arnheim Staman and uncle of Margery Staman Miller and James Arnheim Staman.Beloved son of the late Raymond F. and Bessie Kantor Arnheim. A highly-esteemed urologist for over 40 years, Dr. Arnheim was co-founder of Stept and Arnheim Urologic Associates, which was affiliated with St. Clair Memorial, West Penn and Montefiore Hospitals.One of the first doctors at St. Clair when the hospital opened in 1955, Dr. Arnheim later served as Chief of Urology.Dr. Arnheim was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a consultant to the Pittsburgh Diagnostic Clinic and the Harmarville Rehabilitation Center. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1943, Dr. Arnheim was an intern at St. Francis Hospital.He completed residences in general surgery at Montefiore and in urology at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.During World War II, Dr. Arnheim served as Captain in an army M.A.S.H. unit in the China-Burma-India Theater.He was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1954. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Arnheim was President of the Pittsburgh Urological Association, and a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Medical Association, American Urological Association, American Urological Society, and American Association of Clinical Urologists. Throughout his life, Dr. Arnheim pursued a wide variety of interests and activities including bridge, fly-fishing and fly-tying, restoring antique cars, and swimming.His interest in art prompted him to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe.An avid reader, he was a co-founder of the Academy of Lifelong Learning at Carnegie Mellon, and co-taught a popular course on New York Times bestsellers. A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Dr. Arnheim enjoyed Steelers games, performances by the Pittsburgh Symphony and Pittsburgh Opera, and visits to the Frick and Carnegie Museums. Private service and interment at West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra or the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
