Dear Celia & family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had the pleasure of knowing & working with David from my Florida Symphony years in the late eighties thru my tenure with the PSO. I've always admired him first, as a person & also as a champion of not only his own work, but also as a generous supporter & follower of others. His work as founder of the PNME created a national profile for Pittsburgh new music and is an important part of his legacy. He will be missed. Joe Beiro

Growing up as a young trumpet student in Pittsburgh, and playing in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony, David always graciuosly and with kind guidance mentored me on how to approach and then interepret the musical passages of the orchestral pieces we were playing. Wonderfully kind and sensative guy. My best to his family. I am also a Pliskover.

This message is for Dr. Lee Stock, David's brother. Lee, we haven't crossed paths in years, but I frequently saw David at musical events. He remembered me as your friend from our teen years, when your family was always so welcoming to your friends. Your mother was Belle, as was mine, and I've always remembered that bond, too. David was an institution here, in the best sense of that word. I admired him and his work, but I also liked him so much as a person. I often asked him about you and felt that talking with him was a link to you. My deep sympathy to you and your family. Millie (Sochatoff) Myers

As a teenager I heard the original works of David Stock and had the honor of working with him for many years. My deepest sympathy on the loss of his physical presence. He has made a difference in the planet and he lives on through his music and his students.
